Lindsey Hascher isn’t expecting much of a snow day Wednesday.

Yes, Convent of the Sacred Heart, where Hascher is a senior, will be closed because of the major storm. But though she and other students won’t physically be in class, thanks to technology, they might as well be.

The private all-girls school is one of a growing number using the Internet to expand the boundaries of the classroom. While it’s now fairly common for teachers to post homework assignments and other notes on class websites, some are creating their own supplemental videos, podcasts and even lessons. Which means when the flakes start falling, students might not be able to devote their entire day to sledding.
